A CPDT is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. CCPDT is not a school, where all of the students are certified. A Certified Professional Dog trainer is required to have hundreds of hours of experience, as well as references from a vet, colleague and student. Then a rigorous test is given, covering dog behavior, the principles of learning, basic dog care, dog training equipment, and teaching techniques. Like many professionals, CPDTs must earn continuing education units to retain their certification.
